Motorcycle Airbags

Takata was the first company in the world to begin mass-producing airbags for motorcycles. These are installed on the rear of the gasoline tank and inflate between the handlebar and the rider to help absorb the energy of motion and reduce injuries that may result from the impact of the vehicle and road. Also, the center portion of the cushion is V-shaped to assist in the protection of the rider. Motorcycle airbags are among the larger cushions, even larger than the automobile´s passenger side airbags. As all vehicle airbags are "supplemental restraints" to seatbelt use, motorcycle airbags differ as they inflate instantaneously to help perform the role of restraining the rider’s forward motion.
